Hello,
I'm Sister Carolyn Brockland and I live in New Orleans.
What do you enjoy in your free time?
In my free time I enjoy walking in my neighborhood,
which includes the beautiful Audubon Park, with huge live oak
trees decorated with Spanish moss.
A passion I have…
Is for helping people, especially women, in their search for
a deeper relationship with the Holy One and to grow as persons. For,
as St. Irenaeus said centuries ago, "The glory of God is the
human person fully alive."
Is there a book or a movie that has had an impact
on your life?
I love to read so am constantly "devouring" books. Recently
I read Disturbing the Peace , a biography of Maryknoll
Father Roy Bourgeois. It tells how he evolved from a young
jock from the bayous of Louisiana to an activist who speaks
out on issues of justice.
What would people be most surprised to learn about
you?
Growing up I was anything but a model child. In fact, no one
was more surprised than myself when I began to realize that
God was calling me to religious life.
Who is the one person that you would most like to
meet?
Our foundress, Angela Merici. Although she lived five centuries
ago, she was an amazing woman who continues to inspire me and
many others in today's world.
