Sister Mary Patrick’s smile says so much when she’s asked about her years as an educator. “It has been a happy life. I went where God sent me and it was all right.”

Mention her students and the smile brightens even more. “The kids were good, very good. Teaching was a life-giving time.” Sister recalls one of her favorite activities was taking students on field trips.

Of being principal at the new Ursuline Academy in San Antonio, Texas, she proclaims, “There was a wonderful spirit among the girls.”

Sister Mary Patrick was also founding principal at Corpus Christi High School in Jennings, Missouri. Other locations where you may have met her: Springfield, Illinois (her hometown); Galveston, Texas (she taught piano, too); Decatur, Illinois; Springfield College in Illinois or New Orleans, Louisiana.

Sr. Mary Patrick always felt proud when her students went on to college and did well. “Hearing from them was always great.”
